What this board cannot do yet

Below is a plain list of what the board does not do yet, and beside each one when we expect that to change. The money rule is one sentence: every grade is priced from what its provider charges us, and you are never charged for work that did not happen.

Running

  • A run keeps going if you close the tab. It runs on our side, not in your browser, so a run of a dozen cards finishes whether or not this page is open, and the board tells you what happened when you come back.A stated limit
  • A card that is generating shows how far along it is, but the figure is an estimate from how long this grade usually takes — not a measurement reported by the supplier. It can sit near the end for a while.A stated limit

The board

  • Undo remembers the last 50 edits on this board.A stated limit
  • One board holds at most 500 cards.A stated limit
  • On a board of more than 120 cards, only the cards in view are drawn — so Tab reaches those and the board outline reaches the rest. Everything else about the board is unchanged.A stated limit
  • A board is drawn the way its author made it: one written right to left is mirrored for every reader, in either language. A board made before this opens left to right until you turn it over.A stated limit
  • Groups, search, align and distribute are here, every card can be resized, a card can be pinned in place, and a group can sit inside another group. One board holds at most 50 groups.A stated limit
  • A board can be saved to a file and opened from one. The file carries the board, not its pictures, clips and sound: those stay in the account that owns them. Not planned
  • The ready-made boards are ours. Saving your own board as a ready-made one is not planned. Not planned
  • Masks, cropping, colour correction and compositing are operation cards. They are made when the board runs, cost nothing, and a generation card can read what they make. They work on pictures only: a clip cannot be cropped or corrected yet.Planned
  • Video starts from a description, a still or reference images. Editing a clip you already have is not offered, and neither is 4K video. After launch
  • The board editor is built for desktop computers: it needs a pointer, a keyboard and a desktop-sized screen. Selecting, wiring and multi-select have no touch equivalent, so a board cannot be worked from a phone or a touch screen. Phones and touch come after launch, and so does reading a board someone shares with you on a phone. Everything around the board is built to work on a phone. After launch

Studio

  • Your Studio projects are saved in this browser, on this computer — the project and the media in it. They are not in the copy of your data, they do not go to the trash, and support cannot bring one back; they are gone if you clear this browser's site data, and they are not there when you open your account on another computer. Export a project you want to keep: that puts the finished video on your computer. After launch

Working together

  • Two people cannot edit one board at the same time. You are warned when the same board is open in another tab of this browser — not on another device or in another browser — and when two versions meet, the board shows what changed in each and offers to keep both. What it cannot do is show you the other person while they work. After launch
  • A board can be shared through a view-only link that expires and can be withdrawn. Anyone holding the link can open it; it cannot be limited to named people. After launch
  • Going back to how a board looked yesterday. After launch

Money

  • Before a board run starts you are shown what it will cost: how many cards, the estimate in credits, how many are reused at no charge, and whether it fits what you have left. Each card still carries its own estimate. What no figure can promise is the final charge — a supplier that meters above our estimate settles above it, and the receipt is what says so.A stated limit
  • You cannot set a spending ceiling for a board. After launch

What each workspace cannot do yet

Image

  • Removing an image background — not available yet.
  • Paint past the edges of a picture to a wider frame. No grade takes a picture and a larger frame yet.
  • Ask one description for several different results at once. One description makes one picture today.
  • Make a picture again from the gallery. A run here belongs to a card on a board, and an asset row does not carry its card.
  • Turn a picture into video. Nothing here carries a picture from one workspace to another yet.
  • Paint inside part of a picture. The selection itself exists; what is missing is a grade that reads one.
  • Comment on pictures. There is nowhere to keep comments yet.
  • Show who made a picture. Not available yet.
  • Invent detail while enlarging, and sharpen faces. Enlarging repeats the pixels you already have.
  • Rewrite your description for you. That is a second generation, and it is not priced yet.

Audio

  • Change the voice of a recording you bring — no grade takes an audio file as input yet.
  • Turn speech into text — nothing here produces text as a result yet.

Design

  • Plan a design in layers and price each layer. A design is one still today.
